#FolksyFriday – Checking out the tartan!

Every Friday Folksy – the home of all things handmade and craft-y do #folksyfriday, encouraging users to share and promote their fellow makers by using the hashtag on social media (Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or via a blog post). Folksy run their own theme and there’s a Pinterest board to share on. Alternatively you can choose a theme yourself to post about!

For my first Folksy Friday I’ve decided to focus on tartan. I’ve always loved everything of the checked variety, especially during the winter time when there are so many cosy scarves in all sorts of tartans! this year I’ve been making some winter cushions from different types of tartan as well as some checked tweeds and wool fabrics. I always think tartan works so well at Christmas too especially for stockings and tree decorations.

Here are a few of my Folksy picks from other designers/makers using tartan in their products, I’m especially in love with the cards by Stewart Craft Cards – tartan inspired cocktails! I also love all the little accessories in Girl of the Sixties shop.

MacQuilla Sunrise card by Stewart Craft Cards  and tartan tote bag by  Carry Stuff

Harris tweed Christmas stocking by Life Covers and tree decorations by Janet’s Handmade

Kitchen gloves by My Lovely Lace  and mobile phone case by Girl of the Sixties

Grey tartan baby boy shoes by Dotty Robin, stag and tartan bib by the Crafty Curio shop  and tartan woodland cards by Stephanie Short Stationary

And below is a few of the tartan and winter fabric cushions I’ve been making, available from my Folksy shop here!
