Venturing south of the river at the weekend meant I got to try out Rick’s in Tooting Broadway. Described as “Tooting’s first and only Modern British and Modern European restaurant” it’s owned by Rick Gibbs who used to be the head chef at the Chelsea Arts Club no less!
The cosy little place is on the main high street and is really relaxed and informal making for a really nice atmosphere. The menu changes daily meaning everything is fresh and seasonal. There’s a good mixture of dishes – French, English, Italian – everything basically! we tried the charcuterie plate, the pork belly, (which was amazing!) the sea bass and the courgette fritters, it’s also worth mentioning the wine was great here too. If you like good food in an unpretentious environment then Rick’s is definitely worth checking out if you are a Tooting resident, or even if you’re not!
